FRANCESCO SACCHINI
Best kept secret about your area?
Little Mountain, Parksville
Favorite place to go shoot?
I love to shoot mountains and mountain lakes, especially if they're snowy.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
When I was a child, I liked to steal my parent's camera and take pictures of
everything around me. I also used to take some selfies (even if that word didn't exist at the
time) doing strange expressions. I still have those pictures, they remind me of genuine moments.
That curiosity has become the passion I have today.
How did you get into photography and the outdoors? What
makes you love it?
I always loved adventures of every kind: exploring, hiking, experience moments of
truth with some friends. It's all about the authenticity of those moments. Combining that with
my greatest passion, which is photography, comes natural and easy. My camera allows me to
capture that authenticity and make it last forever. For me, this is magic.
What do you do outside of photography?
I recently graduated in Digital Humanities, and now I'm managing to continue
studying Communication Design at the University.
Which Lander product is your favorite?
I love the combination of outdoors and great design, and I think Lander products
are great examples of that. I especially love their backpacks, they're really well designed and
useful for many situations, from hiking with photographic and electronic gear to wandering in
everyday life.
What advice would you give to people who want to get into
adventure photography?
The best way to do this kind of shoots is to balance the world of photography and
the world of adventure: you want to take great pictures, of course, but don't stress yourself
with too much technic, because it's better not to lose the authenticity of the moments you're
experiencing. Anyway, just go shoot and don't be afraid to make mistakes, because sometimes
mistakes are the greatest teachers, and allow you to climb the steps to become who you want to
become.
