My unwavering curiosity and one hundred percent
commitment to everything I do is the recipe to my photography’s style. I have a hard time
sitting in one place. Just knowing that there are places I have not seen, people I have not
met and stories I have not heard, makes me anxious. This planet is so vast and full of
incredible scenery, as a 22 year old, living in a world where you can get to the other side
of the planet in less than a day, there has never been a greater time to be an explorer.
There is no excuse for not following your curiosity and traveling to the places you want to
go. Born in Ithaca, New York, I never appreciated the beauty of being in the woods or
chasing waterfalls until I began taking photos of them. Photography changed changed
everything for me; the way I look at nature and the way I look at people. Now living in
Charleston, South Carolina, a city full of artisans and fellow creators, it is easy to stay
motivated and find inspiration. Looking towards the future, I hope to continue to learn and
experience new things every day, and as long as I can do that, I will be happy.
I like to live my life by a quote from my favorite movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. At the end of the movie, Brad Pitt narrates some of the most influential words I have ever heard in my life. He says, “For what it’s worth, it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There is no time limit, start whenever you want. You can change, or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. You can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you’ve never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you are proud of… and if you find that you’re not. I hope that you can find the strength to start all over again.
That is my philosophy on life and I only hope that I can continue to abide by it!
